Durstone & Q stand at Cevisama 2018 by VXLAB, Valencia – Spain

This bar is a structural component with an aesthetic function but it also works as a practical meeting point for visitors and costumers. In essence, the stand presents a cohesive space that showcases the main product line, Durstone, as well as the company’s “Q” collection, focusing on youthful and contemporary styles.

The design of the new store breaks the traditional scheme where there are multiple furniture for the various products and is transformed into a single three-dimensional piece that generates spaces for living in a diverse collection and in constant interaction with people.

The main display was located in a construction inspired by modern mountain shelters. It consists of two joints cabins with characteristic sloped roofs. Its façade was covered with dark wood, often seen in traditional mountain architecture. The interior walls were, in contrast, lined with pine plywood, which gave it a feeling of warmth.

Yo’Hood trade-fair stand by Linehouse, Shanghai – China

The timber structure employs a natural material in a gravity-defying linear pattern, with mirror-clad vertical columns camouflaging the support system and creating the illusion of transparency and levity. At the same time, one side of the timber slats are painted in a gradation of hues which are only revealed as the viewer’s perspective revolves around the structure.

Their 2017 expo pavilion, designed by mode:lina™ studio designers, has a light transparent form, referring to MILKE’s distinct visual identity system and its main element – a logo with a characteristic frame. Behind this surface, isolated from the crowd of the fair where the visitors could meet up with each other, the products and the hosting company; an area that would accommodate a cafe in the middle was designed. The location of carpet exhibition units was planned slightly inwards from the perimeter.

The concept for the stand was to develop a main space that was created using natural wooden slats, which conveyed the appearance of the tile installation battens of a real roof.

Whaam brought this through by designing two select meeting areas into the stand for exclusive engagement. We translated the grandness of a typical Hilton lobby area by introducing a welcome desk contrasted against elevated walls and a suspended halo bulkhead to emphasise the new brand identity.
