The custom bar in marble and reclaimed wood is punctuated by an antique mirror ceiling and Edison bulbs. It is fully-stocked for company events, meetings with vendors, and social gatherings. Adjacent, a communal seating area is backed by Thonet chairs and tables; an antique patina brick wall with Edrington’s brand logos.

Harvey Nichols department store by Studio Four IV, Doha – Qatar

The interior design, created by London-based Studio Four IV, is obviously an opulent affair, oozing a style that blends luxurious materials and bespoke finishes, and seamlessly connects with local culture. A central veil concept based on the traditional Arabic residence is featured throughout the premises, and the design also sees nifty high-tech embedded into stunning glass panels produced specially for the project.

Gold bar hovering in the rising sun clouds — became the central element of the design of the whole office. The central element is the reception desk in the form of a gold ingot of 999 samples. Stylized lamps with a soft matte light resemble small clouds — the same theme can be traced in the drawings on the walls.

The rectangular desks are randomly placed in the space, some are scattered in the office, and some are piled up in the meeting area. They seem like modular matchboxes that can be assembled freely, which change the stereotyped impression of a rigid office. The irregular black and the original wood color of the table are matched with each other very well, and the steel grids not only filter the dazzling sunlight, but also the impetuousness, and only leave behind the deep and endless inspiration and wisdom.

Throughout, vibrantly colored acoustic wall paneling matches textured carpeting and distinctive furniture pieces. The angular light fixtures appear to thread through the ceiling, knitting workspaces, and meeting rooms together. The large communal cafe picks up on the linear theme again with its white and wood diagonal slat finish.

The first step of the renovation was to pull down walls and install glass partitions. The suspended ceiling grid was converted into an open ceiling, which gave it an industrial look. Paths were created with a concrete structure and the warm wooden colours of the furniture were combined with a fresh green tone to give the space a light, inviting feel.

The core concept of the project has been the connectivity of the company with its users. The use of perforated shapes and materials that evoke nets, meshes and fabrics together with the use of vibrant colours provided material support to the idea. In line with the model established by the company, floors are organized in open plan and there are no private offices.

For the finish, we selected expressive genuine materials, such as solid wood boards, natural stones, and cement and mosaic tiles. By assembling and laminating fragments of these materials in open space, we tried to express joyful abundance. With various materials layering on each other utilizing their attributes, the finished design turned out to be very profound.
