The Environments Team translated this new feature into a physical space by assigning each floor to a different city: Buenos Aires, Kyoto, Jaipur and Amsterdam, styling each one of the floor’s cafes in relation to that city, the color, patterns and materials reflecting the local culture.

In keeping with the industrial chic of the Tea Building, we retained a stripped back design to give people a variety of work spaces to choose from. The design is sympathetic to the trendy Shoreditch location and the open space enables staff to collaborate in a shared, creative environment.

The new space has been designed to cultivate collaboration, interaction and a sense of community. This is the first time that Airbnb has been able to pre-determine the architectural layout of an interior space. The Warehouse had fallen into disrepair before Airbnb reinvented the entire space by designing distinctive structural elements including a dramatic cascading staircase.
