Peninsula Optical by Framestudio, Oakland – California

With back of house functions hidden behind a blind door, the sales space was divided into three zones: display and dispensing, lounge area, and a high end display area in the rear. The design incorporates a limited palette of materials: whitewashed oak, matte white corian, and grey felt tiles which clad the walls behind the iconic shelving system designed by Dieter Rams.

The accent in materials orientated on broken tiles on the bar zone, abstract mural that delimits two sitting areas, and round gypsum light sculptures on the walls. And the supplement for the interior is minimalist style branding that continues laconic atmosphere of the design.

The space is full of dark grey detailing: such as constructions of black metal, the patterns of grey tiles were partially used, the hanging wires, concrete bar top as well as the chairs. A shade of gold colouring of the chandeliers and bar equipment was invoked to liven up this monochrome colour game.

Modeled on the brick and steel plating architecture that is characteristic of Tokyo’s Tsukiji district, we proposed constructing a space that utilizes patterned tiles and copper sheeting that recreates an interior reminiscent of the familiar Tsukiji surrounds.

Salsa Shop by Ninetynine, The Hague – The Netherlands

A very recognisable tile pattern of white, pale pink and red tiles of various sizes covers walls, ceiling and floor of the first three metres of the restaurant. A counter table along the facade allows people to look outside while enjoying their food. A communal table for ten completes this area.

The space is divided into two color worlds (theme worlds) almost in the middle: the corall / powder / gray combines with copper and cognac colored leather and a pink marble as a table top and forms the guest / sitting area.

Avenue Road showroom by Abraham Chan, Vancouver – Canada

Chan and Avenue Road first cleaned up the Toronto space by covering brickwork and mechanical systems, and painting all the walls white. Existing rough wooden beams and columns are left exposed as a contrast to this neutral backdrop, with a series of other industrial-style metalwork providing a reference to the history of the space.

Bar El Villa by Vermuteria del Mar by AMOO, Barcelona – Spain

In the first place, the perimeter is projected, formed by the cork and tile coverings, and pavements and walls with a continuous covering. We used versatility as a conceptual frame. A low-definition modular design complemented with an external semi-transparent digital printed fabric skin. The modular elements are easily reusable giving shape to ever new display spaces and the fabric skin is a communicating surface providing always new messages and identity. Adopting semi-transparent walls to display solid ceramic surfaces was a challenge.

After entering, customers are greeted with a brightly colored mural map of the Mediterranean opposite an intimate bar marked by hanging globe lights. Natural wood bistro chairs and tables with marble tops accommodate small and large groups.

The point of the packaging is to be able to ship the product in various countries, so the dimensions of the box had to be suitable for easy shipping around the globe. At the same time it had to look classy, and represent the brand appropriately.
