牛八/GYUHACHI restaurant by STUDIO C8, Hong Kong

The design team took inspiration from the general image of Japanese-style design such as Japanese modern. They aimed to evoke the Japanese taste in a cool and stylish space. Simple, minimum and warmful Japanism, which is the design concept of Gyuhachi.

JZ Club Shanghai by STUDIO C8, Shanghai – China

The JZ Club is one of the most well known jazz clubs in Shanghai, and even in China. Live music seven days a week, they have been attracted jazz lovers since it launched in 2004. The design team aimed to elevate their characteristic ambience and the exciting experience of enjoying jazz music at the new venue.

Tajimaya Shabu Shabu restaurant by STUDIO C8, Hong Kong

Inspired by a Yoshokuya, the design scheme holds a warm and nostalgic feeling at that time. The overall interior style of Yoshokuya is influenced by European cafe in the late 19th century. We created the space that was based on the style of Yoshokuya with contemporary accents.

The patterned tile in subdued colors was used on the floor at the ground level including the entrance poach to set the casual atmosphere of Spanish bar. On the floor of the first level, we selected antique oak timbers to make the warmth and comfortable feeling.

Multiple pieces of fabric panels with different colours (such as yellow, white, grey brown, and so on) are gathered together to create the front wall of the cafe with a geometric pattern.

Blackzmith eyewear shop by STUDIO C8, Hong Kong

We lined up white coloured panels in the form of an arch to combine with a black background to not only highlight the shop space but also give the refined feeling to the customer.

For the design of the partition arch we used the grid pattern wood panel with metal mesh screen to avoid not only block the space but also breaking the customer’s view.

298 Nikuya Kitchen TST by STUDIO C8, Hong Kong

Partitions and doors are made of the red coloured steel and black mesh screen. The wall is covered with metro tile and concrete at the above, and the light bulb messages on it.
