The entrance has a direct focal point of the logo, taupe and grey colors on niche in the waiting area, and big leaf plants and white stones to incorporate a natural element. The flooring throughout the office is a dark grey color carpet with accents of blue for dynamism and pattern.

Swingers West End by Zachary Pulman Design Studio, London – UK

Unusual elements within the design include the bar which is 28-metres long inside a bandstand, and the food stands, which are modern beach huts where the panelling has been designed to make the total appearance like an axonometric drawing (they look 3D but they are 2D). To further compliment the 1920s English Riviera brief, we took traditional iconography and re-interpreted it with a modern twist.

Gaggenau flagship showroom by Einszu33, Chengdu – China

Drawing inspiration from the inner courtyards found in ancient Chinese homes, the designers incorporated a miniature courtyard in contemporary style. Black forest trees are used in reference to Gaggenau’s German heritage at the core of a stripped-back, clean yet technical aesthetic – also reflected in the products.

The rawness of industry drove the selection of materials. The kitchen and social areas are built of unfinished plywood. The light plywood is contrasted by black accents representative of oil and earth, with accents of copper throughout.

The design is derived from the name of the hotel and the character of the city. The »Domizil« (= home) exudes a good feeling, resulting in a bright mood and rousing confidence. The peaceful effect of the Neckar River and its colours are incorporated into a harmonious concept.

The top surface of the cube is diagonally split to create backlit triangular apertures that transform in surface area. The level of the cube drives the area of the triangular aperture. Higher the level of the cube, larger is the surface area of the back-lit triangular aperture.

The two tubular lights attached to the frame on either side of the glass-encased entrance, are duplicated indoors in different guises. The original bar has been retained, but having been sandblasted, it now flaunts exposed light timber.

The design expands on the form language of the Maissi bench, using simple cylindrical forms to create seating objects that are surprisingly light and comfortable. Referencing East Asian and Nordic typologies, the minimalistic form is made both strong and comfortable by the angle created between the upper rail, which sits atop the legs, and the lower rail, which rests just in front.

The bar comprises of wall panels of shiny steel and capsule-shaped copper equivalents on the ceiling. Arguably the most appealing part of Coffee Craft is the seating area with a visually stunning indoor cactus garden as a focal point.

Cafe Lani Bakery and Restaurant by Wanderlust+, Honolulu – Hawaii

Using the significant ceiling height to its advantage, spatial depth and use of light was carefully planned. The open kitchen and bakery enticed customers with the smell of fresh baked goods and lively atmosphere. The floor plan went through numerous layouts to maintain visual interest, maximize seating count, and support operational function.

Ergon Deli + Cuisine by Urban Soul Project, Athens – Greece

The floor is terrazzo and the walls of the deli were covered with white tiles. On the next level, the kitchen is located behind a glass/metal partition structure as well as a part of the dining area. The majority of the seating is located on the mezzanine.
