Straits Clan club by Takenouchi Webb, Singapore

Nestled in a part of town once rife with clan associations that helped to build the island state’s economic success, the club references their history through a myriad of design elements. Local design practice Takenouchi Webb has created a welcoming atmosphere, captured in a palette of onyx, concrete, rattan and lush tropical greenery that effortlessly ties in with the neighbourhood.

The outer section contains clean and rigid components, such as mortar flooring and silver hanger racks whereas the inner space is clad in tromp l’oeil carpeting printed with a motif of randomly stacked persian rugs.

Still the combination of wood, rattan and iron materials, but on each floor is reduced to make a difference for each space but still ensure the thoroughness of the overall design language, which the most impressive material is rattan.
