Interior double-height “lounges”, facing each of those hanging gardens and all possible associated uses, allow to make a welcomed transparency in the depth of the building and the plot. The play made here on the insertion of roughness allows to organize the building “Ampère e+” by offering it diverse uses and new timescales.

The main accent in the interior has been made on the preserved and restored walls of red brick. All new items and furniture have been designed in white and black colors to visually highlight the red brick in the interior.

This historic building required seismic re-strengthening to bring it up to code, and it was during this work that the beauty of the extraordinary brickwork and unique building structure was discovered. The previous use of the building to smoke fish is still discernible in the uniquely aged color of the exposed brickwork.

The facade of the town hall has been constructed using staggered, vertically projecting modules with photovoltaic cells and high-quality thermal insulation. Story-high glazed facade elements are used to optimize the intake of daylight.

Ergonomics and sound privacy were some of the challenges the client faced in their previous space. In addition to wanting to attract and retain talent, the client wanted to provide daylight and views for all employees to help improve employee engagement, comfort, and overall satisfaction. TPG’s designers took these concerns into consideration when planning the 98% open floorplan with over 600 workstations complete with sit-stand desks. To help address the acoustical concerns, the design team employed a number of strategies such as sound-absorbent fabric panels integrated into the workstations, acoustical ceiling and wall finishes, and a “white noise” sound masking system.

Throughout the office, a classic British style prevails, however a modern twist has been added thanks to the use of a wide range of rich materials such as marble, wood, glass and metal. Classic chevron wooden flooring lies underfoot, blending into the wall, while the colour scheme revolves around light wood, creating a sense of harmony and warmth.
