Marble block was applied to the top of the desk and we used secret lighting. Building technical equipment were considered part of the total design and we can see all equipment on office parts ceiling.

Inspired by sound waves, an exciting sculptural ‘sound wall’ sits in the building’s reception area – establishing a strong and immediate wow factor to anybody who visits. The visual elements work aesthetically and acoustically towards transforming sound waves into physical form and bringing sound to life visually for an emotional and uplifting experience highlighting sound as a visual.

As one enters the office, the continuity of the same philosophy is spread over on the raftered wall surfaces, cozy discussion rooms, naturally illuminated open workspace leading to a happening cafeteria. Vertical raftered lines, pastel shades, straight corridors, transparent glass walls signify the simplicity and transparency of the company yet accords a commitment to the society.

Sharp edges created a safety hazard, similar colours were hard to visually differentiate and tactile surface became a priority. With both staff and the public using this building, Hot Black ensured the space was innovative, practical and stayed true to Vision Australia’s core values.

The wooden slat ceiling and wall panels, the central design element of the project, provides a visual and material connection to the myriad spaces throughout the six floors. This is most apparent in the application of the wood slat system in front of each office where the designers matched the same wood finish to create a seamless flow.

The polished concrete floor and soda blasted columns in conjunction with exposed ceilings and services, form an industrial aesthetic that is complemented with creative planting, surfaces of colour, and warm timber. Aged copper downpipes provide cabling to the workstations, providing an interesting material counterpoint.

Various set up of hot desks area – which allows for multiple work settings – was provided for teams to enjoy different environments while working. Breakout Areas was introduced to provide a place for teams to play games, pool, table tennis with one another and to have informal discussion throughout the day.

Cache atelier incorporated movable acoustic screens to gain flexibility and introduced a mixture of flexible meeting and collaboration areas and classic meeting rooms. The overall dark tonality was kept in harmony with the industrial touch of the exposed equipment and installations with colourful popups of furniture and collaboration areas zoning.

From the inside garden built next to the entrance, a pink bench emerges and runs alongside the room, passing through the coffee space – that levels the ramp with a deck – and turns itself into bleachers. At the back of the room there are toilets and Questto|Nó’s maker space.

To get this cozy but sophisticated environment materials such as walnut wood and finishes in natural fibers, leather, fine fabrics, stone and concrete were used. As a way of welcoming, was created a space for coffee and bar in the waiting room which together with the furniture create sensations like to be in your own living room.

Although the unconventional room structure supports networking, it simultaneously provides sufficient room for undisturbed work time. Primarily, partition walls are used for this purpose that also serve as wardrobe, magnetic board and storage space. Fabric sails, adapted to the shape and color concept, act as decorative noise protection.

Designers played with geometries of architectural elements against the grid of the ceiling. Glass, natural stone, glossy ceramic tile, pops of red and modern artwork, furnishings, and lighting contrast with the rawness of the exposed antique structure. Carpet and wood paneling add a sense of warmth to the minimalist space.

A machinery exhibition area has been created where we reuse the existing furniture, paneling them with canvas tensed retro illuminated, creating a “kitchen show”. In the office area spaces have been created, such as a living room next to the reception, without losing the feeling of being a open Office.

The design concept of the working areas supports the company’s philosophy of “lean luxury” with the focus on comfort with soul and personality. Ruby sets on unique furniture in combination with build-in components in discreet light grey and brass shades. As a result, the working area creates highly individual zones that spark the imagination and allow maximum flexibility.
