Script flagship store by Gensler and FRDC, Bangalore – India

Each zone seamlessly transitions into the other as Script envisions a fluid living experience. This meant that the general design language needed flexibility and modularity so that the fixtures adapt to evolving dynamics of the merchandise. Hence, the Store has been planned as modular and flexible. The layout divided into zones, are separated by modular display fixtures that are occupied by associated accessories.

Sprouts installation by Vibhor Sogani, Delhi – India

Designed to showcase India as a ‘World city’ for the commonwealth games in 2008, Indian based designer Vibhor Sogani‘s ‘Sprouts’ is symbolic of the feeling that the South Asian country is rising after 60 years of independence. They powerfully convey the message of growth, of the city and of its people, from a small community to a global community — sprouting from the ground.

HSJ jewellery by RMDK, Lucknow – India

Built as an introverted vault, the solid sandstone façade makes a bold statement with an elegant surface detailing in gold steel. The entrance is marked by a delicately detailed 30 feet high glass door, allowing a glimpse inside generating curiosity.

As one enters the office, the continuity of the same philosophy is spread over on the raftered wall surfaces, cozy discussion rooms, naturally illuminated open workspace leading to a happening cafeteria. Vertical raftered lines, pastel shades, straight corridors, transparent glass walls signify the simplicity and transparency of the company yet accords a commitment to the society.

Dimension Data Offices by M Moser Associates, Mumbai – India

An example of how the M Moser team instilled aesthetic expression in the design is the pièce de résistance in the open office area – the innovative ceiling. This was designed using a collage of acoustic ceiling modules in three different shades and sizes. The modules are wrapped above the work area, leaving the corridor ceiling exposed, to create a striking contrast while maintaining a cohesive design theme.

Hanging channels from the ceiling created an open floor plan for the office such that if the movable boards were not in use the entire office was a single spatial entity. The idea-lounge at the heart of the space has two casual living room arrangements to encourage teamwork.

The concept is to embrace the Indian ethos, and yet provide an experience for today’s modern age customers. The store design embodies ‘athlethnic’ style- a transfusion of ‘Athleisure’ and ‘Ethnicity’. Inspired by traditional Indian courtyard house, the central space is created like an anchoring space around which all other spaces are laid out.
