Harvey Nichols department store by Studio Four IV, Doha – Qatar

The interior design, created by London-based Studio Four IV, is obviously an opulent affair, oozing a style that blends luxurious materials and bespoke finishes, and seamlessly connects with local culture. A central veil concept based on the traditional Arabic residence is featured throughout the premises, and the design also sees nifty high-tech embedded into stunning glass panels produced specially for the project.

Compiled from 108 boldly coloured aluminium cutouts which were fabricated by the Global Display workshop and then hand bent into 3D organic forms and hung with multi-coloured metal chains. Each window features an original piece of art from the duo, creating individual art installations in each of the windows.

Harvey Nichols have transformed their windows into a fashion factory, each window is a different machine that incorporate a variety of functions. Mannequins also form part of the machines as well as resembling a face. Great attention to detail with cleverly integrated movement and sound giving an overall sense of industrialism.

In December, interior designer Shaun Clarkson and textile designer Paul Brewtser opened Pitfield London, a retail and exhibition space in East London’s design central: Shoreditch. This curiosity shop acts as a café and community space and shop with constantly changing objects and exhibitions.
