The new extension shines a new light on violence whilst taking an anthropological approach, considering the human causes and effects. Protruding out from the main body of the building, the 200-ton extension holds a 99ft viewing platform that offers views across the historic city.

Shimmerwalls’ patented ’Mirror Wall’ board system sees laser cut acrylic mirrors replacing the traditional film sequins, allowing for larger and more dramatic glass-like displays of shimmer-as demonstrated in the windows for Caroline Biss, where square mirrors have been used to magnificent and glamorous effect.

The Lovelace features just 30 lofty guestrooms and suites on the premises, and these pair many of the structure’s original architectural detailing with plenty of modern comfort. The amenities include comfy Coco-Mat beds with matching organic bed linen, lounge chairs by Vitra, a Sonos sound system, free wifi, and site-specific wall decorations by local artist Florian Süssmayr add a cultural flavour to each pad.
