Within the environment, FRCH created opportunities to reclaim existing features like exposed brick walls and poured concrete flooring as a nod to the industrial origins of the location. The dining room is anchored by custom stained concrete community tables with multi-colored metal stools that boldly express the Holler & Dash color palette and further accent the feature seating.

Tasca Celoso by Jorge Bibiloni Studio, Palma de Mallorca – Spain

The space is divided into two areas, separated by the typical macael marble bar, a must in any Spanish tasca. The area behind the bar reflects the traditional tasca, with decorative objects like bottles, glasses, and tins displayed on wood shelves which reach the ceiling and join the stainless steel and digital screens which are the influence of the fish market.

A very recognisable tile pattern of white, pale pink and red tiles of various sizes covers walls, ceiling and floor of the first three metres of the restaurant. A counter table along the facade allows people to look outside while enjoying their food. A communal table for ten completes this area.

A space that transmitted the Italian origin from the product for sale needed to be designed, including its traditional elements and natural ingredients. The space above required to remind to the past, but through a modern aesthetic. Due to this since the beginning Masquespacio opted to use tiles with an artisan aspect, besides a range of elements like the golden bar lamps and arcs with mirrors that remember us to the traditional bars from the ancient Italy.

Instead of generic outdoor arrangements, the Taco Bell design team took things to the next level and separated the alley space into several clusters to cater to different group sizes and dining habits, such as including a one sided bench where individuals can sit casually or where small groups can hang out and socialize.

The concept encapsulates a black ceiling, with their new signature orange colour, wrapped over via C-channel beams. A timber light fitting is suspended from the ceiling, over tables & banquette seating, and a customised cartoon is applied to the walls.

The overall tone of the area is designed in earth tone, composing of wood material in the colour of orange and green which is the iconic colour of Yohsinoya. All over these interior touch points are blended and become the first Yoshinoya that was rebranded and represented in new design concept of “Modern Original”.

McDonald’s restaurant by Mei Architects, Rotterdam – Netherlands

Unlike the old building, which was built against the wall of a historic post office building, the new fast-food restaurant stands in the centre of the pavement to make it look more like a pavilion. The majority of its exterior is glazed, providing views through the building.
