“Game” window installation by Shigeki Fujishiro at Hermès store, Tokyo – Japan

As its most important showcase in the country, the store has become known for its evocative window installations, such as the current one, simply entitled Game, by Shigeki Fujishiro. The Tokyo-based product designer adheres to this year’s theme Play Play Playful Life, and created nifty pinball games, comprising of colourful wooden elements, moving balls, and obviously adorned by Hermès merchandise.

Jacobs Medical Center by CannonDesign, La Jolla / San Diego – California

Although one building, the 10-story hospital functions as three medical specialty centers— housing inpatient services for high-risk obstetrics and neonatal care, cancer care and advanced surgical care. The building’s overall curvilinear form was driven by the design of the patient units, but also by advanced modeling to capitalize on views, maximize daylight and minimize solar gain and glare.

Vinoteca wine store by Zooco Estudio, Vallaloid – Spain

The design is characterized by a series of wooden arches which evoke ancient underground cellars. The architects employed the arch to serve as a central motif throughout the design, alluding to wooden barrels of wine cellars, bottles of wine, and antique vaulted cellars.

The use of robust, warm and natural materials in addition to the single glazed partitions attributes to achieving a surprisingly homely and exceptionally comfortable atmosphere. On the office floors, building cores are decorated with oak lamella. The rhythmic design approach further includes the entrance desk, room numbers, the signing and cabinet handles.
