The references to a chapel are everywhere, from the large floating marble frame “The Altar”, where the barista “Priest” supplies you with your coffee as if it were your communion, all the way to the high tables that are formed from marble that falls from the heavens and simulate a confessional, where one can sit face to face to one’s cup and confess, in company or by oneself.

Compass Offices by Vocon, New York City

The work cafe Vocon designed for Compass welcomes employees to provide a space to host activities. Vocon included movable furniture, private booths, a game room + rejuvenation lounge, and full AV equipment for presentations. Vocoon thus created smaller coffee hubs strategically located near the interconnecting stairway, to provide employees with more and more space for huddle rooms and private spaces.

A machinery exhibition area has been created where we reuse the existing furniture, paneling them with canvas tensed retro illuminated, creating a “kitchen show”. In the office area spaces have been created, such as a living room next to the reception, without losing the feeling of being a open Office.

The accent in materials orientated on broken tiles on the bar zone, abstract mural that delimits two sitting areas, and round gypsum light sculptures on the walls. And the supplement for the interior is minimalist style branding that continues laconic atmosphere of the design.

The pump and mechanical details are intentionally exposed within a metal casework. An old wood beam of the original building is exposed as well to give a contrast between old and new. To mimic the texture of the coffee machine, the designers choose to use the white stone as the material of the counter from the facade all the way into interior space.

The visual integration is achieved by the creation of internal balconies which work as picking holes where the customers can take crooked glances of the facilities of the upper floor and vice versa. For the facade the combination of dark grey and white was chosen in order to emphasis the entrance and make its mark.

The new Micro Reserve brand modernizes elements from Peerless’ iconic core packaging by featuring silk-screened black stripes contrasted with gold foil lettering. A system of brightly-colored labels with individualized roasting details speak to the craft put forward when making these exceptional coffees.

The interior space is an overall “L” shape space. Coffee, craft beer and bakery zones take places separately in the three corners of the “L”. Coffee and craft beer zone have white ceilings and floors and the bakery zone is a space with black covered all surfaces. The black and white spaces is divided by the curvy ceiling edge and steel wire.
