Chinoiserie team, deconstructing the traditional Chinese cloud pattern, designs the outline of the eyes in the logo’s main pattern. The core figure in the middle of the logo, learning from Chinese ancient water and mountains, refines the most valuable color and pattern system, and describes again Chinese pastoral sceneries of magnificent mountains, shinning clouds and shadowy trees.

The concept that inspired me was the Mayan Quincunx, a glyph in the form of a rhombus that represents a star, or Venus. The materials that I chose were concrete and different tones of wood. For the marbles, I chose gold, silver and copper finishes, to represent the stars.

The chocolate itself, seen as a “food of the gods” in Aztec culture and the result of great work and effort, is portrayed as a valued award. With this in mind we opted to create a visual language that alludes to Latin America´s colonial era´s craftsmanship and military recognitions in the form of a “Cruz” or medal, hence the name Gran Cruz.
