A climate which we breathe from the entrance, where the walls are completely covered by a full-length bookcase, inside of which are works of the historical French Gallimard collection.

The commercial room is divided in to three integrated spaces, the first with a male identity with rustic finishes such as iron, concrete, natural wood and strong textures in earth colors, the second more subtle for a female product with cleaner walls, in shades of gray soft, cleaner furniture with continuous linear display, in direct lighting highlighting the shapes and perforations so that natural light mixes with artificial light creating a lighter atmosphere.

New York City-based architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox not only supervised the transformation master plan of the popular Covent Garden shopping zone, but also gifted Carriage Hall, as the new home of The Shop at Bluebird is called, its most striking architectural feature: the inner courtyard’s glass roof. The modern intervention allows in floods of daylight to permeate the entire premises.

Lipsy’s shoes and accessories offers are represented in-store for the first time. A gold metallic feature wall and padded pale pink seating create a luxurious, plush backdrop for this department, and key products are displayed on bespoke illuminated stands of white marble porcelain.

The overall aesthetic loosely takes cues from the French modernist movement of the early 20th century, but the store’s palatial dimensions and plush materials overrule any trace of austerity, making shopping here a rather grand affair.

FRENN store by Pentagon Design, Helsinki – Finland

The aesthetic bears all the hallmarks of Scandinavian design, but is also infused with materials and colours that lend it a cosmopolitan edge. The indigo blue wall ties in with the brand’s new graphic design that also bears the signature of the aforementioned agency. Furnishings are sparse, comprising merely of shelving, a display, a sales counter, and all seamlessly blend into the understated setting.

It’s divided into two levels and is entirely furnished in light blue damask with matching chairs and carpet, evoking a feeling of femininity and harmony. Large mirrors stretching from the floor to the ceiling complete the decoration.

The mirrored sales counter opens the room to all sides and it is not immediately clear to you in which corner the room begins and ends. The combination of velvet and glass, bright yellow and the black / white stripes barely avoids looking away.

The white color of the parquet and walls in opposition to the tuff of the vaults and recesses, a warm and expressive material of the local architectural tradition, is the predominant element. To give greater lightness to the tuff are conceived simple black hangers surmounted by small square, rectangular or circular shelves.

The interior combines industrial materials with a sophisticated palette of pink, green, blue and yellow. A thick pale-pink stripe surges down the centre of the concrete floor, topped by assemblages of geometrically shaped fixtures that elevate the products with colour.
