In the process of space planning we used a variety of dots, lines, faces, and figures to express its volume and space. Just like how we use colors and shadows to create volume on our face.

The theme of this year’s prestigious annual floral art show is “Floral Safari”, and Prop studios were invited to create a floral installation which tied in with the Safari theme and showcased Kiehl’s newly released Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil, as well celebrating the brands heritage, community spirit, sustainability and use of natural ingredients.

The store’s emphasis is glued timber strips ceiling installed sideward to the walls. Laminate flooring is installed the same way sideward. The goods shelves are designed with a certain arranged rhythm, of different levels, with up and downs.

Central to the store, a steel vessel for Aesop’s skincare bottles bears not only the weight of the main counter but the store’s identity. This ‘perched’ smooth mass is crafted from 3mm rolled steel whose shade was carefully coordinated with the indigenous Korean quartz and felts selected.

Copper was chosen in reference to the stills used to produce whiskey at the A P Hotaling warehouse – once the West Coast’s largest whiskey repository – in which the store is located. Two of these are wash basins, which feature in most Aesop stores to allow customers to test the different skin products.

Natural plywood, pastel colors and a boutique environment works as a background to agrupate more than 20 international brands in an space that also works as a test area for the customer translating the limit of buying to a product experience.
