I Gabbiani boutique by AFA Arredamenti, Qualiano – Italy

There are red pads on which shoes are exposed and, higher up, golden and glass shelves, equipped with special lighting strips. The ceiling and the counter where the box is located are dark, while the floor and walls have light-colored colors. Lights and shadows alternate with the aim of highlighting the products on display.

The retail space is compact but features all the retail design codes the Freitag stores are known for. Designed in collab with Torafu Architects, its signature shelving system flanks both sides of the store floor-to-ceiling, while a sturdy metal shelved desk wooden top sits right in the middle, presenting smaller items of the Freitag’s offerings.

Acne Studios store, Los Angeles – California

It’s like walking into a David Hockney masterpiece, and as such the setting fully captures the vibe of Southern California. Additional furnishings and fixtures comprise of specially commissioned pieces by designer Max Lamb, ceiling lights by Paris-based designer Benoît Lalloz, and sleek metal shelving and clothing racks.

ASH stores by Francesc Rifé Studio, Shanghai – China

The hard lines of this brass spine is defined from one of the most important elements of the project: a golden partial ceiling, symbol of the personality of ASH. It is characterised for integrating multiple holes from which light is projected, following the needs of the space; while other orifices are prepared to add lamps and hanging shelves, at the same time that they allow to fix the main structures.

Issey Miyake store by Naoto Fukusawa, Kyoto – Japan

The interior of the storied premises has been created by designer and longtime collaborator Naoto Fukusawa, and is inspired by the classic japanese sumi or ink colour. The retail setting is simple and understated, balancing the structure’s original elements with subtle modern interventions that allow the colourful merchandise to pop across two floors.

The lofty and light-filled ground floor presents Chanel’s highly coveted seasonal handbags, small leather goods, costume jewellery, scarves and glasses, as well as a selection of watches and jewellery pieces. At its core, a large concrete podium is situated, displaying a selection of ready-to-wear ensembles.

Three main selected pastel colours connect audience in a style of famine and modern chic. Unusual forms and shapes in fixtures manifested brand’s playful identity, from irregular colour perplex panels at entrance, to extruded polka dots metal hangers inside the experimental zone.

“The Forest” installation at Valextra store by Kengo Kuma, Milan – Italy

The installation, aptly called The Forest, comprises of an infusion of wood and will be on display for the next couple of months. No less than 136 wooden slats have been inserted vertically, recreating an abstract environment that’s firmly rooted in nature, showcasing Valextra’s coveted bag models along the way.

The common language that binds all the project is large use of color, strong and decisive; alternative and modern materials; use of light performed very clearly. Floor are realized with resin, rubber and carpets; walls are covered with very rough blue plaster, wood, acrylic, stainless steel and wallpaper.

Warmer materials such as wood, wallpaper, carpets and fabrics were chosen to characterize a more welcoming environment. For women’s spaces, lighter shades were chosen in different shades of “skin tones” and different textures, and in the men’s “shoes room” the darker shades and use of natural textures such as leather, metal and brick are predominated.

Designed by the company’s creative director Christian Kaegi and his team, the 60 sqm. ground floor space features a striking diagonal wall at its centre that bears the classic Qwstion wall display and demarcates the room at the same time. The setting is framed by bare concrete flooring and a whitewashed ceiling and walls.

The setting on both floors is largely defined by a modern, clean aesthetic, captured by pristine white walls, timber flooring, cabinets and displays with glass tops, sleek chrome shelving and clothing racks. On the ground floor, Dior’s signature handbags are displayed, in addition to an assortment of small leather goods and accessories.
