W-fit fitness club by LD Studio, Moscow – Russia

Guests at the entrance are greeted by a spectacular composition of huge concrete reception desk, and a stairway wrapped around it. Although the building is not industrial, solving the problem of saving, we avoided unnecessary decorations to the maximum and incorporated the existing building structures into the aesthetic concept of interior design.

A selection of orange gives the energetic feeling and the continuity from steps at the main entrance to the stairs that leads to the main reception and cardio space on the 2nd floor, and to the orange floor-wall-ceiling main jogging track on the 3rd floor respectively.

The new interior facades surrounding the court harmonise with the church’s existing spatial rhythm. Plastered entirely in white, they do not distract the eye from the original architecture. The result is a peaceful visual effect with a timeless character. This is enhanced by a screed floor and light brass-coloured window frames.

Sound absorbing ceiling curved panels, inspired by the sound waves, penetrate into the hairdressing salon and often come down to the floor giving more privacy in the stations. A vertical garden acts as a focal feature while separating the environments. The use of natural woods, marbles and warm colors complete the look, converting the 870sqm in a unique and relaxing retreat.

Each space is designed so that the training session is a true experience where the immersion is total. In the «Force» room, the atmosphere is dark, the materials resume the codes of the industrial or docks areas. The lighting is concentrated on the machines while in the room “Mobility” the atmosphere is relax with the use of oak or anatomical patterns.

The same brass is used for the lights that are custom made to fit the space and within shelfs and counter top of the lobby. Concrete for which DAS-studio has a particular affection, was used to cast the front desk.
