Among the many intriguing elements in the design are sports-themed huddle rooms, workstation clusters, a lounge, pantry, two bars, stadium seating, and a game room, strategically interspersed throughout the floorplan to enhance NIKA’s culture. Metal finishes juxtaposed against graffiti walls lend the space a decidedly urban flair.

The main lobby is warm and welcoming. It has two oval oak pillars, a grey epoxy floor, and oversized pebbles for seating, in grey, beige and sand colours (by SAMRIN). In the product showroom, a neutral white epoxy floor and white furniture were used in order to highlight Luxottica’s eyewear and product line.

Our solution was to create a more personal, semi open-plan workspace language; through landscaping a series of smaller domestic scale areas that created team identity. Each was personalized through introducing a varying texture of custom storage units, lighting type, ceiling details, glazing detailing, flooring, & furniture types.

Wood-wrapped, back-lit elevator surrounds add a bit of elegance into the space at the entrance lobby. These elements of warmth parallel a custom-designed feature wall with wood reveals in the reception area that resonates with the company logo and signage.

Walls, ceiling, and flooring were removed to expose the natural raw materiality of the existing core and shell to showcase a classic, minimalistic, and sharp look. New steps and accessible ramp were added to improve the connectivity across the office.

The coloring of the table linoleum and the shape of the table tops increase the distinctiveness of the rooms. As a continuous design element is a horizontal band of oak cabinets through all rooms. The precise built-ins with a permeable lamellar structure hide radiators, technical components and storage space.

The existing hardwood roof decking, exposed beams and brick are highlighted through the simple and clear palette of materials that are applied to the new spaces in the center of the plan. A large new skylight effectively drops natural light into the deep plan and provides a focal point for interaction between employees, clients and visitors alike.

The design of the floor plan aims to take full advantage of natural lighting. The project is designed as a platform of cohabitation between doctors, clinicians, and visiting patients. The flow of the space naturally leads visitors in past the reception area and into the waiting room.
