Arc-shaped lights lead the rhythm of the game, surrounding people with an exciting atmosphere; at the same time, the styling of arcs and lines of movement maintains a sense of unrestrained freedom, making people feel as though they are in an adult paradise. In the rear of the space, behind the DJ platform, a smooth cement pillar resembles a trophy with a modern linear design.

The overall interior scheme combines a stylish element and the warmth of wood to create a cozy place, which has a fashionable and causal ambience. A special feature in the space is the wall decoration, which has been selected a characteristic wall covering to reflect the name of the bar “Porker”.

Bar & reception area “Brussels by Night” at Brussels Furniture Fair 2017 by A&B Project

Inspired by the new graphic style and new logo, the bar and reception area are constructed with wooden slats, creating an open space. This open space is conceived as a patio with a ceiling opening and a green accent in the form of plants.

Digging deep into the history of the building, Studio Modijefsky has created a design with strong references to the past. As a tram depot there were several activities taking place in the space giving service to the run down trams, such as electricity, paint, wood and metal work.

We started by looking at urban spaces and focused on the tile patterns of the Berlin underground. This is where we found the green tones which work to create a premium feel within the space as well as introducing an unexpected colour. We played with scale and colour to create interest and texture on the walls and counter.

The concept design makes a reference to traditional Parisian bistros of 20’s in combination with chic style features which create a mostly contemporary result full of “story narrations”. The basic materials which are used within design are white chevron tile, oak wood, chess tiles and colors such as pale beige, vivid turquoise, white and red – Bordeaux.

Our assignment was to create a “First Class” lounge downstairs that would be very appealing and draw patrons away from the very crowded upstairs bar area. By creating this area the owners created twice the usable space without moving or increasing monthly overhead.
