Mat Bar by Haf Studio, Reykjavik – Island

Mat Bar’s bright-green counter and graphic floor tiles impart an unexpected warmth and charm to the interior. Located in a neighbourhood of Reykjavík which has recently undergone a revival, Mat Bar exudes a fresh and inviting atmosphere that complements this context.

Voda bar by Korpus, Moscow – Russia

The ground floor setting at Voda comprises of exposed brick walls, embellished with precision cut-outs filled with architectural forms and objects, a plaster-cast bar with stools accompanied by a large table, a dark wooden ledge that subtly runs along one side of the room, and last but not least, a limestone-covered staircase whose robust spatial features amplify the visual drama. Upstairs the atmosphere shifts to homey and relaxing with a lounge area to match.

Salón Sociedad by Communal + OTRA Arquitectura, Monterrey – Mexico

Salón Sociedad creates a warm and joyful experience; a family environment just like Sociedad Cuauhtémoc y Famosa. The Malinche chair, iconic chair made in Monterrey by Muebles Malinche and made popular by Cervecería Cuauhtémoc by producing branded versions and selling them to local bars and pubs to a low cost.

“Mockingbird” bar by Insight Studio, Minsk – Belarus

The space is arranged in white, where the BI colors, English Green and Rose Gold are applied; and the seats and the detailed parts are finished with wood and brown paint to exude comfort and a warm feeling.

The designer intends to recall the memories of a traditional street food stall with simple contemporary design language. The fabric curtain signs, menu handwritten on a wooden board convey an ordinary everyday life atmosphere, but also with a sense of strangeness in an urban environment.

JZ Club Shanghai by STUDIO C8, Shanghai – China

The JZ Club is one of the most well known jazz clubs in Shanghai, and even in China. Live music seven days a week, they have been attracted jazz lovers since it launched in 2004. The design team aimed to elevate their characteristic ambience and the exciting experience of enjoying jazz music at the new venue.

The shelves for glasses and bottles are made of black steel. The surface of Terrazzo floors partly go over to cupboards and partition walls. In the second part you get seated at black tables with golden edges, surrounded by curtains and drapes which show the colours and nuances of green Olives.
