The building is dramatically shaped around a luminous spherical auditorium, which is referred to as ‘the eye’. Surrounding this focal point, terraced bookshelves echo the form of the orb, resulting a topographical landscape of contours that wraps around the entirety of the interior.

The new homebase of Thailand Creative + Design Center has been divided into six functional zones, each with a different focus and related facilities in support of the thriving local creative industry. also to be found across the premises are co-working spaces, an exhibition gallery offering a rotating program of events, a fully equipped auditorium seating up to 150 people, and a creative business center for business consulting, exchanging ideas and making new connections, in order to expand one’s business.

Radboud University Dental Sciences Building by Inbo, Nijmegen – The Netherlands

After earlier plans to construct a new building, the principal opted for the renovation of the prominent Dental Sciences Building, beloved by the university community. This offered a great opportunity to showcase the potential of the oft-maligned concrete architecture from that period.

Private Sezin School Open Roof Space by ATÖLYE Labs, Istanbul – Turkey

ATÖLYE team first developed a strategic spatial program for Sezin Schools, which included an unusually large teachers’ zone, a flexible events venue, a public meeting room dedicated to educational NGOs to foster partnerships, a makerlab with three sections (media lab, wood shop, bio lab) and small lounge booths for comfortable parent-teacher dialogue.

The lake-shaped mirrors covering the ceiling in the “Lake” room help create a space in which minute changes in natural light, such as that from the morning or evening sun or that of a sunny or cloudy sky, can be experienced throughout the day and the seasons, while also adding to the bustle by reflecting the children at play.

Schulich School of Engineering Redevelopment and Expansion by Diamond Schmitt Architects + Gibbs Gage Architects, Calgary – Canada

Students congregate in the light-filled space on brightly coloured, X- and O-shaped seating designed by Dutch firm Feek. The atrium floor drops away in an amphitheatre-type setting to improve connection with the basement, which both extends daylight into the core and provides access to a garden.

Two large seating boxes that serve as storage for foldable chairs to be used during graduation define the area in several places for tables, a car coffee corner and stage seating. Resulting in a place that in look & feel easily matches what one would expect to encounter in a modern urban environment.

While large volumes in black and yellow regroup all the main services (reception, kitchen, projection screen and teacher’s lounge), all circulation flows through one central area housing different functions (lunch room, workspace and agora), promoting passive interactions between users.

Sheraa Entrepreneurship Center by Pallavi Dean Interiors, Sharjah – UAE

There is a quirky amphitheatre for product and business launches, we created a tiered, organically shaped object to match the typography of the centre’s logo. This wavy structure is a nod to the concept of seafaring, doubling as a stage for presentations and panel discussions, as well as auditorium style seating when the centre hosts larger presentations and events.

New College House by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, Philadelphia – Pennsylvania

The New College House frames a critical gateway to Penn’s urban campus, preserving vital green space and welcoming visitors via a public ‘lifted lawn.’ Bohlin Cywinski Jackson was challenged to engage a vibrant college community into the campus and the city on all four sides of the building, while also securing the College House by a single point of entry.
