Hofschenke restaurant by Konrad Knoblauch, Markdorf – Germany

Imagine the restaurant of a campsite. What do you see? White plastic chairs? Gaudy tablecloths? Even tackier seat cushions? That was then. The Hofschenke of the 5-star Wirthshof campsite proves that it can be different. The campsite not only boasts a spacious wellness area with many spa treatments, it also has a hotel and the Hofschenke – a restaurant with wow factor. A real feast for the stomach and for the eyes.

You won’t find plastic chairs or gaudy textiles here. Instead, there is a refurbished reclaimed wood ceiling and walls, granddad’s old lounge tables with a lick of white paint, brown and black leather benches, designer chairs by Vitra and Hay, black shelves and lattice boxes.

The mirrored tiles that define the main dining room area are the only spot of colour. Here, on 140 square metres, up to 70 guests can enjoy the new culinary delights of owner and chef Andreas Wirth. Before a round in the sauna or enjoying one of the other activities on offer.
