AKJP Collective Concept Store, Cape Town – South Africa

Keith Henning and Jodie Paulsen are at the forefront of South African fashion with their fresh and forward Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen label. Looking well beyond the usual dimensions that come with owning a retail space, the duo boldly decided to transform their boutique in cape town into AKJP Collective, a happening concept store that embeds their own creations within a curated range of compatible other brands and items. And it’s not just a whimsical plan, as it’s their ambition to support South African design talent and create a momentum to introduce their new retail concept and offerings to markets overseas in the future.

The retail space has been given an appropriate make-over and now features an uncluttered open plan in a minimalist palette that allows the merchandise to pop. Suspended steel clothing racks line the walls, adding up to the airy and spacious feel, and are paired with sleek metal shelving. Each designer is allocated a shell that can be adapted to different products. And to make shopping matters even more enticing, every two months a different designer will take over AKJP Collective’s shop window and create a unique installation. As said, there’s a variety of carefully selected items, including Drotsky, Pichulik, Steffany Roup, House of Gozdawa, and of course, the full Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen collection.
